Terms of Reference
Advocacy
To ensure that the UK science community, funding agencies, and other relevant
bodies or individuals are aware of the objectives, activities and results
of the IGBP, and of the benefits of participation.
Forum
To organise opportunities for the UK community to discuss the IGBP and
its participation within it.
Feedback
To inform the IGBP Secretariat or individual IGBP International Project
Offices of relevant UK research activities and opportunities for networking
and contributions to the programme, and of UK views on the current programme
and future directions.
Facilitation
To actively encourage UK participation in IGBP research activities and
related data exchange.
Support
To advise the Royal Society on the appropriate level of annual National
Contribution. In addition, with the approval of the Royal Society, to
advise other UK bodies and agencies on the provision of International
Project Offices or Focus Offices, and the funding and hosting of regional
or international IGBP meetings.
Reporting
To produce reports for the IGBP and Royal Society as requested summarising
UK participation in the programme and UK contributions to the programme.
Liaison
As the national expert body on the IGBP, to liaise with other bodies responsible
for the development and / or co-ordination of Global Change research and
response activities within the UK.
